CLASSICAL GREECE & VOLCANIC SANTORINI

1st Day, Athens:   Arrival Athens. Meet, assist and transfer to your hotel in Athens center. Welcome Dinner, Overnight.

2nd Day, Athens: Full Day City Tour. After breakfast you will start with guided tour at the New Acropolis Museum and continue with a visit to the Acropolis Hill where you will see the famous Parthenon and the Erechtheum Temples. We will have free time for lunch in Plaka before boarding our motor coach and enjoying the highlights of modern Athens. We pass by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament House, Presidential Palace, Panathenian Stadium, Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Academy,   the University and the National Library on our way to the National Archaeological Museum, where we will see the finds from Mycenae and the famous Kouroi. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight.

3rd Day, Corinth Canal – Patra – Olympia: After breakfast you will depart from Athens to start our classical tour. After a short stop at the Corinth Canal we continue along the coastal road on the west side of the Peloponissos peninsula, stop for swimming at one of the beautiful beaches along the way, before we reach Patras. Stop for lunch and coffee, before we depart for Ancient Olympia cradle of the Olympic Games,  where we will arrive late afternoon, check-in the hotel, dinner and overnight.

4th Day, Ancient Olympia:  After breakfast we will visit the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the most important sanctuary of Zeus. We will visit the Museum beside the ancient site which contains very interesting exhibits such as the pediments and the metopes of the temple of Zeus, the Statue of Nike and of Hermes. Enjoy the afternoon free in the beautiful village of Ancient Olympia.   Dinner and overnight.

5th Day, Olympia – Patra – Nafpaktos – Delphi: After breakfast early departure from Olympia, drive to Delphi via Patras and the beautiful bridge from Rio to Antirio. Stop at the beautiful town of Nafpaktos fro a swim and lunch on your own before continuing to Delphi, chekc-in our hotel, dinner and overnight.

6th Day, Meteora: In the morning after breakfast, we will visit the archaeological site of Delphi. We will see the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians and visit the Archaeological Museum containing such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.  Continue our tour to the North and late afternoon we arrive at the picturesque town of Kalampaka at the foot of the magnificent unique rocks of Meteora. Check-in our hotel in the town of Kalampaka, dinner and overnight.

7th Day, Meteora – Athens: After breakfast we will visit 2 of the most Historical Monasteries crowning the vertical cliffs of Meteora, the Grand Meteoro and the Varlaam Monastery with Unique Frescoes and Manuscripts. Return to Athens with one rest-stop along the way, late afternoon check-in, dinner, overnight.

8th Day, Athens – Piraeus Port – Santorini: After breakfast, early morning departure from the Hotel, transfer to the port of Piraeus, to embark the boat to the magnificent island of Santorini. Transfer and Check in our hotel near the beach where we will have time for swimming. Later in the afternoon transfer to Oia the enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets. Evening return to the hotel, overnight.

9th Day, Santorini:  After breakfast we will visit the archaeological site of Acrotiri where we will be guided through  one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean.  Continuing our tour of the island we will enjoy a visit to Fira, stroll around the cobble stone narrow street to the famous Caldera and visit the prehistoric museum of Thera. Afternoon free for swimming at the beach. Overnight.

10th Day, Santorini – Piraeus: Morning free to your leisure to enjoy the beach and in the afternoon transfer to the port to get the return boat to Athens. Evening arrival at the port of Piraeus and transfer to the hotel, overnight.

11th Day, Athens:  After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your return flight.
